Rodney may have been without his iPhone camera, but he was not without camera all together. It was fun as well as fascinating to watch him at work.
Mainiacs is a revered term, only given to those who are 5th generation (or more) born in Maine. If you were born in Maine but you are 1st - 4th generation, you're a Mainer. Everyone else is just "a person from away". I came to Maine for "just one semester," but now I'm "tenure track" which means I'm here to stay for a while. As I was in those first few months, I am very excited about this adventure and the chance to meet the great people of Maine.

I just caught up on your blogs (I love them). I spent a summer in Bethal and made a point to search somewhere new every week. Your covered bridge pics were great but if you are ever in the area again look up Lovejoy Bridge near Andover on Rt 5 (map 18 in the blue map book). It is Maine's shortest covered bridge and spans the Ellis River. The Artist Bridge or Sunday River Bridge may be the most photographed covered bridge but I think that the Lovejoy Bridge is even more pleasing to the eye (it's my favorite). When we were there the kids that I brought with me went swimming in the river under it. The river there is a so sandy and just beautiful. Someday I want to be able to say that I have been to see all of the covered bridges in Maine but it hasn't happened yet!
I hope your summer is going as well as you had hoped,
Marie
